Curfew Reminder –

The Susquehanna Regional Police Department and the Township Board of Supervisors remind kids and parents that the curfew is 10:00 PM until 5:00 AM the following day on Sunday through Thursday and Midnight until 5:00 AM the following day on Friday and Saturday.  Under the Township’s ordinance, no minor under the age of 18 years of age is permitted to be on any street, highway, alley, sidewalk, park or public place during these hours unless accompanied by his parent or legal guardian.

The majority of the time kids are just out walking or riding their bikes and not causing any harm, however, some have been caught doing damage to property or other things that they should not be doing. The biggest danger and concern for the Police Department though is that the kids are away from the safety of their home and are easy targets for people who would do them harm.

The curfew is a wonderful tool that parents and the Police Department have to help kids who have not fully developed their own sense of judgment.  It also is a way to set limits to help youths understand and respect the law. The curfew also encourages parents to know where their children are.
