License Your Dog In PA

All dogs three months or older must be licensed by January 1^st of each year no matter when the license was purchased the previous year. Annual dog licenses are valid from January 1^st thru December 31^st of the year it was issued. Violators can be cited with a maximum fine of $300 per violation plus court costs PER dog.

An annual license is $8.50 and a lifetime license is $51.50. If the animal is spayed or neutered, the annual fee is $6.50 and lifetime is $31.50. Discounts are available to older adults and people with disabilities.

The small license fee helps the millions of dogs in the state by funding the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement.

Dog licenses are available from your local county treasurer and other licensing agents.

Reasons for dog licensing:

• It’s the law. All dogs three months and older must have a current license.
• If your dog gets lost, a license is the best way to get him back. A license helps animal control and shelters identify your dog and get him back home safely.
• The cost of a license is less than the penalty for being caught without one. Owners who fail to license their dogs could face a fine of up to $300 for each unlicensed dog.
• License fees support animal control. The annual fee you pay to license your dog helps keep shelters running and supports the work of the Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement, which is responsible for ensuring the welfare of dogs, regulating dangerous dogs and overseeing annual licensing and rabies vaccinations.

Reminder – Last Leaf Pickup Dates For 2021 Scheduled For Tuesday, December 21st and Wednesday, December 22nd

The last leaf pickups for 2021 are scheduled for Tuesday, December 21st and Wednesday, December 22nd. As with previous leaf pickups this year, your pickup day is the same as your trash/recycling day.

All leaves must be placed in biodegradable kraft paper bags.  Please make sure that all bags are at curbside the night before the day of pickup.

Township Seeks To Fill Volunteer Board and Commission Openings

The East Donegal Township Board of Supervisors is seeking to fill openings on the following volunteer Boards/Commissions:

• East Donegal Township Board of Auditors
• East Donegal Township Park Commission
• East Donegal Township Planning Commission

The characteristics of the community’s volunteers that currently serve are: Ability to work with fellow members, staff and the public in a cooperative and collaborative manner; ability to facilitate and participate in discussions in a productive manner; ability to lead in a positive, constructive manner; history of community involvement; ability to digest and comprehend complex technical material and make sound recommendations or decisions on those facts; and the ability to embrace the diversity of the community.

Township residents that are interested in serving on one of these Boards/Commissions are encouraged to submit a letter of interest and complete the Township Volunteer Application.
